Spring arrives in the Midwest and the Staff of the WFFC starts feeling the excitement approaching in the warm southern breezes! Emails start circulating, phones begin to buzz. Skydivers and Staff members alike are all asking “what’s new for the World Free Fall Convention, 2004?” Well, there are some new additions being considered, some changes that we think you will like, things to make your stay in Rantoul even more enjoyable. And of course some of our most hallowed traditions are still very intact. We can almost hear chants of ‘hell-fish! hell-fish!’ and ‘muff, muff, muff’ on that breeze, and if we listen really hard, the soft southern drawl of the Alabama gang and the Boys from Tennessee, mingle with a little of the French repartee of some of our foreign visitors. If we squint our eyes just right as we look up, we can see a kaleidoscope of colors faintly dotting that spring sunshine. A little spring birdie has told us that the Rodriguez brothers will have an altar full of fun for us all this Convention! Ah, the wonderful smell of Jet-A! We’re stoked about August coming!, how ‘bout you? Prayers are being offered to the weather gods, even though many of us start our conversations with ‘hey, do you remember the storm of.....’ For those of us who spend our entire vacations exposed to the elements, the addition of the new shower station will be a welcome treat. Vendors have been contacting us since January, wanting to know if we have saved their space, or have room for some new booths, and additional vendors. Even though the office doesn’t open for pre-registration officially until May 1st, many people (skydivers and vendors alike) are contacting the girls in the office to get ‘brought up to date’. We’ve had a great winter, but we miss you! It’s nice to hear your voices! As the next few weeks go by, we’ll have the Web Site all up-dated with prices, jump ship availability, and RV site registration information. Keep an eye out for some of the pictures, but the daily videos recapping last years festivities are already online! Get ready to call us on May 1st, the girls have gotten REALLY big cushions for their chairs so they can be very comfortable when you call! All the pencils are sharpened, the headsets are ready!
